As you can probably tell, this page is conflating two different places in the game: the cave at Meteor Falls where I caught a Zubat, and a secret base that I created on the route outside. It worked better this way so I could show the bats coming out of the secret base.
Bamboo's narration here is riffing on the film Batman Begins, where Bruce Wayne makes his symbol the bat after overcoming his childhood fear of bats. After drawing the page, I started to wonder where Bamboo gained her knowledge of superhero movies. Maybe there's a drive-in theatre outside Verdanturf and the Spinda watch from the tall grass.
